WEDDING GUIDELINES

Your wedding is a Christian worship service.  Certain guidelines have been established to uphold the faith and practices of this congregation and the people of God in Christ Jesus.

We believe and confess that the marriage of male and female is an institution created and blessed by God. From marriage, God forms families to serve as the building blocks of all human civilization and community. We teach and practice that sexual activity belongs exclusively within the biblical boundaries of a faithful marriage between one man and one woman.

  1. The use of the church for weddings of non-members must be approved by the congregation council.

  2. No flash pictures during the wedding service unless previously approved by the pastor.

  3. No throwing of rice, rose petals, potpourri, on confetti or the release of balloons.

  4. No attachments shall be made to the pews or other furnishings without the approval of the pastor.

  5. No smoking in the church building.

  6. No alcoholic beverages.

  7. All couples are to meet with the pastor for at least 3 pre-marital sessions.

  8. The pastor shall be consulted about music choices.  As a worship service honoring God and your union in God, selected music should bring honor to the Lord.

  9. The marriage liturgy will be planned by the couple in consultation with the pastor.

  10. Holy Communion can be celebrated.

  11. You are welcome to include family members and friends in the reading of  lessons, solos, assisting with prayers or Holy Communion etc...

  12. Guest pastors are welcome but must be approved by Pastor NIla.

  13. It has been the tradition of the church not to celebrate weddings during Lent and Holy Week.
